Makan in Ipoh: Duck, Chicken, Pork and Snake

python - yum

Yes.  Snake.  The taste isn’t surprising.  It’s meaty and solid, not unlike chicken, filled with fish-like bony vertebrae.  But I stayed away from the skin.  Been spending some quality time with Vietnamese migrant workers.  A roommate of one caught a python in a fishing net and fried it up.

pork rickPork rice.  Simple, somewhat fatty.  Quite good.

Duck Rice.  Here’s a picture of the duck before it’s cut up.  To be honest, I was somewhat disappointed with this go-to staple.  The shop owner cut it up in such a way that it was mostly fat and bone.  But the chili sauce is killer.

Hey. You’re breaking like the only food rule there is. Don’t eat things that can eat you. In the past I was guilty of eating both shark and crocodile. I’ve since repented and won’t make that mistake again. Duck is delicious, pork is perfect but snake is bad karma. Python=man-eating giant snake. Besides that, it’s a snake!
