I highly recommend Malcolm Gladwell’s latest book Outliers.
Outliers can be defined as things or people who lie outside of normal experiences.
Gladwell sets out to debunk the monolithic notion that success is the territory of ’self-made man’. He makes a very compelling case. My introduction to his writing, I listened to his audiobook after seeing a very interseting interview Charlie Rose conducted with Gladwell. Gladwell presents his case by weaving intricate stories together. Filled with compelling research, Gladwell discusses community, talent, effort, the times, opportunity, cultural legacies, and the miracle of meaningful work – all things which have created outliers like Bill Gates, high performance Hockey players, and geniuses and experts in all other fields.
