I wanted to invite you to a reading of my new full-length play, She Has A Name.

Public Reading – 10 January, 2010 at 3 PM

Hope Community Covenant Church in Strathmore, AB (245 Brent Blvd.- here’s a map)

In She Has A Name, a young lawyer poses as a john to build a legal case against a brothel trafficking young girls from Malaysia to Thailand. His investigation centers on NUMBER 18, a young Cambodian girl working in a Bangkok brothel, whose testimony could make or break the case. The play is haunted by VOICES who usher NUMBER 18 to her fate.

Play History:
As a one-act She Has A Name was given the SAW Alberta Playwright Network Award in 2009.

Steve Waldschmidt of Burnt Thicket Theatre will be directing a workshop process of the script Jan 9-10, with six talented actors and Jamie Popoff, BTT’s artistic director. The workshop will culminate in a reading of the play for an invited audience featuring actors Aaron Krogman, Cari Russel, Marlies Wester Ohlhauser, Rachel Peacock, Amy Wegner and Andrew Cooper.

The workshop has been arranged to assist me in bringing this play closer to a finished full-length script that’s ready for production. There will be some time afterward for response from the audience.

This play contains strong language and potentially offensive content, and is not appropriate for children.
